Virtual Participation
Virtual Participation is an exciting new development for
the International Microwave Symposium. While there is no substitute
for a live presentation, we hope virtual participation will
enhance the experience of the conference and fuel further
collaboration between researchers, scientists, and engineers.
Everyone who is interested in Microwaves can benefit from
VP. It will enable attendees, and those unable to make it
to the conference in person, the opportunity to purchase and
view a subset of the, technical presentations, workshops,
and short courses they might have missed due to conflicting
schedules for a more comprehensive experience. We will also
provide free viewing of the microapps and plenary session,
for those who might have not been able to attend these events.
MTTS is making this benefit available by recording both the
audio and slide material and then uploading to a secured website
provided by IEEETV.
All registrants of Technical sessions will be permitted to
view these recordings online for a modest fee The Virtual
Participation Committee plans to also record some of the Workshops
and Short Courses. The purchase of these Virtual Technical
Presentations, Workshops, and Short Courses will be available
during advanced registration, on-site at the conference, or
on the Virtual Participation website for several months after
the conference has concluded. (Specific ecommerce website
will be given at a later date.)
All authors of technical presentations are being given the
option to either opt in or opt out of the virtual participation
program. Those who wish to participate will have their presentations
recorded during the conference and will have their recorded
presentation available for viewing by the end of the conference.
We especially encourage all student presenters to participate
in the Virtual Participation program, as it can be a great
tool for honing your presentation style as well as enhance
your visibility to potential career opportunities. As an added
incentive toward participation in this project, we will be
offering a Virtual Participation gift to all students who
opt-in.
We sincerely hope this program is embraced by those presenting
at IMS, as a way to communicate your work and research to
a vastly larger audience. Although we hope many will take
advantage of this opportunity, it is entirely voluntary, and
presenters may opt out if they wish.
Please send any comments, questions, or concerns to the Virtual
Participation Chair, Charlotte Blair, at cblair@sonnetsoftware.com.
Check this webpage again in the coming months to see further
information and details about the virtual participation program.
